No athletes' tax at this time - Gayle

Voice of JAAA president Garth Gayle

Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) president Garth Gayle says the association will not look to impose any tax on elite athletes at this time.

Reports surfaced a few months ago that athletics local governing body was exploring the idea of imposing a 5 percent cess on the nation's top athletes.

However, speaking on Hitz 92 Sports Grill, Gayle said while such a provision does exist in World Athletics' constitution, the timing would not be right.

Gayle says there are still significant costs being take on by the association especially in funding the pursuits of junior athletes.
