PFJL hints that Premier League season could be cancelled

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Karen Madden

The Professional Football Jamaica Limited (PFJL) has given its clearest indication yet that the 2021 season of the National Premier League is in danger of being cancelled, a decision that would have dire consequences for the country's football programme.

The PFJL, the new body which is responsible for the marketing of the league,  disclosed on Thursday that a final decision will be made in a March 23 board meeting.

Despite submitting protocols which include a broadcast only league with no spectators, the Chris Williams-led PFJL and the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) have failed to get the all-clear from the government and must now consider its options including the cancellation of the league.
