Portmore heap more misery on Molynes United

Defending champions Portmore United heaped more misery on Molynes United with a 2-0 win at the Constant Spring Field on Sunday in the Red Stripe Premier League. Rondee Smith in the 11th and Cory Burke in the 86th, were on target for Portmore.

Molynes who are now winless in their last 10 matches, dropped to 8th in the table on 20 points, while Portmore moved up to 7th on 21 points. Meanwhile, Tivoli Gardens picked up just their fourth win of the season with a 1-0 away victory over 6th place Dunbeholden.

Veteran Jermaine "Teddy" Johnson got the crucial goal from a 52nd minute penalty. Tivoli moved off the foot of the table to 10th on 15 points. At the Mona Bowl, UWI and Harbour View played out a 1-1 draw.

Jabari Hylton opened the scoring for UWI in the 21st minute with Jevoun Bascoe equalising for the “Stars of the East” in the 56th minute. UWI sit 11th on 14 points, while Harbour View are 9th on 20 points.

Elsewhere, Vere and Arnett Gardens also played out a 1-1 draw at the Wembley Centre. Vishinul Harris opened the scoring for the visitors on minute 72 with Romone Plummer grabbing the equalizer four minutes later.

Vere dropped to 12th on 13 points, while Arnett remain third on 26 points. In the Monday night fixture, Cavalier host Humble Lion at Stadium East, starting at 8:00 pm.
