Prendergast issues strong warning to abusive fans

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Simon Preston

Jamaica's FIFA Referee Instructor Peter Prendergast has sent a stern  warning to local spectators that abusive language to match officials will put them out of venues. Over the past few seasons, there has been a growing issue with the messages coming from the crowd to referee and the assistants at Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) games.

Prendergast who is a former FIFA referee, has seen and heard it all and has spoken of the strong sanction that will be taken against those fans. Prendergast says this move from the referees is all part of the control of a match.

He was speaking on Saturday morning at the Spanish Town Prison Oval where local referees had a fitness training session in preparation for upcoming CONCACAF and local assignments.
