Legendary racing commentator and administrator Chris Armond is dead.
Armond, who spent over four decades in the racing industry, died on Wednesday morning at the University Hospital of the West Indies after a brief illness.
He was 66 years old.
Armond held the post of Director of Racing at Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL) up to December 2020 and was considered the standard for horse race commentary throughout the region.
He received the Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) Golden Microphone Award for his commentary in 1984.
Armond, who also had a commentary stint in Detroit, Michigan, and administrative duties in Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados, was celebrated for his contributions to the industry in 2020 at Caymanas Park.
