Richardson praises selectors following Scorpions' Super50 success

Voice of Jamaica Scorpions coach Andrew Richardson

Head Coach Andrew Richardson has given full credit to the Jamaica Scorpions selectors for the Super50 squad following the team’s three wicket victory of the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in Saturday night’s final at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua.

Eyebrows were raised over the selection of players prior to the start of the tournament with 37 year old Chadwick Walton making a return to the team for the first time since 2018.

The coaching staff was put under more pressure when the Scorpions lost to the West Indies Academy in their third game.

However, but Richardson who is just three months into the head coaching role says the team showed character in winning five straight games.

The Scorpions coach also heaped praise on captain Rovman Powell for how he led the team.
2017 was the last time the Scorpions got to the Super50 final with their last title in 2012. The team is now joint second on the list for titles won with 8 and one shared.
