Riley chides local authorities for reluctance in approving resumption of sports

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Jordan Forte

Experienced local track and field coach David Riley says there is going to be a ripple effect on the country's sports in the future based on the reluctance for authorities to approve the resumption of competition.

Riley who is Excelsior High School’s track and field's head coach, says the government should give more consideration to track and field especially based on the country's performances in that sport globally.

The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) is the main stakeholder lobbying the government for the safe return of track and field locally and for their part, president Garth Gayle says they are doing all they can.

Riley recently wrote a blog post, saying the disrespect for sport is not just at the national level, but has been woven into the fabric of society.
