Sammy to take over as head coach of St Lucia Kings

Former West Indies captain Darren Sammy will be the head coach of the St Lucia Kings for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League season, replacing Andy Flower who was in charge for the last two seasons.

Sammy, who has been with the team since the first edition of the league in 2013, stepped down from the captaincy last year.

He was appointed as the franchise's T20 cricket consultant and brand ambassador and worked with Flower as part of the backroom staff.

It's understood that Faf du Plessis is set to return as captain of the franchise which lost to the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 2021.

The 2022 edition will bowl off on August 30, and will take place in four countries - St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana. The Providence Stadium in Guyana is set to host the final on September 30.
