Starting date for Sunshine Girls/Silver Ferns series pushed back

The three match series between Jamaica's Sunshine Girls and the Silver Ferns of New Zealand will start at a later date than originally scheduled due to diplomatic issues relating to the Jamaicans.

It's understood that visas for the Sunshine Girls were issued on Monday but the players only had their passports returned on Friday.

It's also understood that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs assisted with the process to help the Sunshine Girls obtain  the requisite visas.

The 12-member squad is now scheduled to travel to new Zealand on Saturday, the same day for which the opening game had been scheduled.

The first two games were slated for Hamilton on September 17 and 18 with the final match in Auckland on September 21.

The revised schedule will now see all three games being played in Auckland next week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The teams will be playing for the Taini Jamison Trophy.
