STETHS and Rusea's retain titles at Western Champs

Rusea's High made it three straight when they retained their title in the girls’ category while St. Elizabeth Technical also retained the boys’ crown at the Digicel Western Championships in Santa Cruz on Saturday. The girls from Lucea amassed 411 points to have another comfortable victory in taking the trophy back home. Rusea's margin of victory was impressive as runners-up Petersfield High on 274, finished all of 137 points behind. The hosts St Elizabeth Technical were third with 254 points, while Manning's School 146 and Mount Alvernia 110, rounded out the top five.

Meanwhile, in the boys category, St Elizabeth Technical gave their crowd a lot to cheer about, closing out the day on 424 points to take top honours. Petersfield was second with 293.5 points, Cornwall College third 252.5, Rusea's 141 and Herbert Morrison fifth with 123. The next stop in the Digicel Grand Prix Athletics Championship will be the Central Championships on February 27.
