USA and England advance to World Cup Round of 16

1966 champions England and CONCACAF powerhouses the United States closed out Group B with victories on Tuesday to advance to the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Meanwhile, Senegal made it out of the group stage for the first time in 20 years as the joined the Netherlands as teams progressing to the last 16 from Group A at football's showpiece.

The round of 16 which starts on Saturday, will see the United States facing the Netherlands and England opposing Senegal.

Tuesday’s action sees 2-time former champions Argentina facing a must-win situation against Poland if they are to be assured of advancing from Group C.
