Voices of Rugby Sevens vice captain Oshane Eddie & Development Officer at Rugby Americas North Scott Harland

Vice-captain of Jamaica's rugby sevens team, Oshane Eddie has expressed disappointment that the governing body of the sport in the region, Rugby Americas North, has cancelled the 2020 edition of the Sevens Championship due to the spread of COVID-19 in the region.

The tournament which was slated for October in the Bahamas is now expected to be shifted to early 2021.

Eddie who was Jamaica's first ever try scorer in World Cup history was in two minds over the staging of the annual event.

Development Officer at Rugby Americas North Scott Harland told Radio Jamaica Sports that Jamaica was a potential venue to try to stage the event but due to protocols, he felt it would be better to push the tournament to 2021.

Jamaica has won the regional tournament on three occasions. The Crocs were successful in 2005, 2017 and 2018.
