Wasome among Jamaican winners on US collegiate circuit

Former national junior representatives Obrien Wasome and Stacey-Ann Williams were winners at the Texas vs Texas A&M dual meet in the United States on Saturday.

Wasome formerly of Jamaica College and competing for the University of Texas, leapt 15.83 meters to win the men's triple jump. He was second in the long jump with 7.71 meters.

Williams, a former STETHS standout, clocked 51.24 seconds to win the women's 400 meters ahead of former Hydel Star Charokee Young who returned 51.32 seconds for Texas A&M.

Former Edwin Allen High star Kevona Davis who is now in her first year at the University of Texas, clocked 11.35 and 22.89 seconds for the runner-up spot in the both the 100 and 200 metres.

Former Vere, Rusea's and Hydel High athlete Lamara Distin competing for Texas A&M, leapt 12.83 meters for second in the women's triple jump. 

Former national junior standouts Rojae Stona, Jordan Scott and Shanice Love were winners at the 2-day Florida Relays which ended on Saturday.

Stona, formerly of St Jago High and now representing Clemson University, threw 59.85 metres to win the men's discus.

Scott the former Campion College star, leapt 16.96 meters to win the men's triple jump ahead of former Jamaica College standout Clayton Brown of Florida State University who was second with 16.31 meters.

Love, formerly of Excelsior High and now at Florida State University, threw 58.79 meters to win the women's discus.

Former St Jago High representative Leon Clarke competing for Mississippi State University, clocked 1 minute, 48.58 for second in the men's 800 meters.
