Windies players travelling from IPL test negative for COVID-19

All 10 West Indian players and staff who travelled from the Indian Premier League (IPL) returned negative COVID-19 tests on Thursday. This was the second negative result for the Windies contingent since arriving in New Zealand from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In addition, all the New Zealand players who returned from the IPL have also returned negative tests.

The tests were conducted specifically for the IPL contingent that had arrived from the UAE on November 14.

That group is currently undergoing managed isolation and will take one more test next week, after clearing which they can join the rest of their team-mates in the bio-secure bubble on November 26.

This will leave many of the players in the T20 squad with potentially just one training session ahead of the series opener on November 27 in Auckland.

The West Indies players are currently in Queenstown for the first of two T20 warm-up matches against New Zealand “A”.
