Windies women lose third T20 international against England

Jamaican Rashada Williams starred with the bat in the West Indies women’s 17 run defeat by England in the third T20 on Saturday night in Barbados.

Batting first, England were kept to 157-6 with Sophia Dunkley top scoring  with 44. Captain Heather Knight was next best with 43, while Lauren Winfield-Hill got 24. Hayley Matthews, Sheneta Grimmond. Afy Fletcher and Aaliyah Alleyne all had a wicket each.

In their run chase, the Windies women lost Alleyne early before Kycia Knight retired hurt. Captain Hayley Matthews got to 35 as the hosts found themselves on 63-3.

Williams who top scored with 38 and debutant Trishan Holder 21, then shared in a 40 run 4th wicket stand to take the team to 103-4.

The Wndies women would however lose 4 wickets for 33 runs before being restricted to 140-8, giving England an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the series.

Charlie Dean bagged 4-19, while Sophie Ecclestone supported with 2-28. The final game in the series will be played on Thursday.
