Windies women warm up for WCQ with win over Thailand

The West Indies head into the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup qualifiers on a winning note, after defeating Thailand women by 151 runs in their warm-up match at the Sunrisers Sports Club Ground in Harare on Friday.

West Indies women posted 230-6 from their 50 overs, with Thailand women finishing on 79 all out in 36.3 overs.

With Papua New Guinea pulling out of the series, the Caribbean women are short one game. The West Indies women will continue their training schedule for the next three days before kick starting their qualifying campaign on November 23 against Ireland.

Before they travelled to Zimbabwe the West Indies defeated Pakistan 3-0 in a one day international series.

After being out of the frame for the first two days, Americans Michael Maguire and Ryan Sullivan popped up at the right time to battle it out for top honours at the 54th Jamaica Open Golf Championship at the Tryall Golf Club.

It was all on Maguire's shoulder for the decider and he made a long birdie putt for the title to better his third place finish in 2017 and 2019.

Sullivan, who started sixth, scored the best score of the final day, a 9 under par 65 for the best one-day score of the championship to end the 72 hole tournament on 8 under par 208.
