Caribbean-born Alicia Herbert appointed British High Commissioner to Jamaica

 
Caribbean national Alicia Herbert has been appointed the new British High Commissioner to Jamaica, replacing Judith Slater next month. 
 
Ms. Herbert is making history as one of the first UK diplomats born in the Caribbean to be assigned to the region. 
 
The 57-year-old brings a wealth of international experience, having served in countries such as Nigeria, Sudan and Mozambique. 
 
Her appointment is being seen as a significant moment for representation within the British diplomatic corps.
