Fontana is reporting a stronger third quarter performance as the company rebounds from the impact of Hurricane Melissa.
In its unaudited financials for the three months ended March 31, Fontana posted revenue of $2.6 billion, a 17.7 per cent increase year-over-year.
The company says the growth was driven by higher customer activity, strong same-store sales, and contributions from recently acquired Monarch Pharmacy locations.
Gross profit rose 16.2 per cent to $971 million while operating profit climbed 6.8 per cent to $158 million.
Operating expenses also increased, however, reflecting higher staffing costs and integration expenses linked to the Monarch acquisition.
Net profit for the quarter came in at $114 million, up eleven per cent, with earnings per share improving to nine cents.
The company says it ended the period in a strong financial position, with total assets of $6.6 billion and shareholders' equity of $3.2 billion.
