Senior lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of the West Indies, Dr. Nadine McCloud, says the government must provide more support to the creative industries to ensure both the sector and the country benefit in a rapidly digitising global economy.
She highlighted the need for greater assistance in areas such as finance, infrastructure, legal frameworks and intellectual property.
Her view is supported by Dr. Stuart Davies, senior economist in the United Nations Resident Coordinator's Office, who stressed that unlocking the creative economy is not optional but essential for Jamaica's long-term prosperity and global leadership.
