The Pacific Airport Group, which manages Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay and Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, says visitor arrivals dropped by 524,000 passengers last year compared with the previous year because of the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.
The company said 4.47 million visitors entered the island through Montego Bay last year, which is 12% less than during the previous year.
The group, however, indicated that 1.84 million passengers entered through Norman Manley International, an increase of 4% when compared with the previous year.
The company also reported that the bulk of the decline took place in December when only 262,600 passengers passed through Montego Bay, down from 467,500 in the previous year.
Meanwhile, Kingston handled 172,300 passengers down from 177,500 during the previous year.
