The Integrated Resource Plan recently approved by Cabinet, will result in US$7.3 billion of investment in the local electricity sector by 2037.
Energy Minister Fayval Williams made the disclosure Thursday while addressing a meeting with US representatives and members of the regional energy sector at the fourth Energy Climate Partnership of the Americas Ministerial Meeting.
She said US$2.3 billion will be used to replace old plants.
Williams noted that Jamaica will be taking on 320 megawatts of solar or wind; 120 megawatts of liquefied natural gas; and 74 megawatts of hydro, waste to energy and biomass between now and 2025.
The Integrated Resource Plan sets out Jamaica's 20-year plan for the electricity-generation sector.
