Jamaica Broilers reports gains in earnings and profit

Jamaica Broilers Group realized gains in profit and earnings for its second quarter, despite the closure of some business operations.
 
For the three months ended October, JB saw earnings after clearing tax obligations, amounting to J$842 million.
 
For the corresponding period in 2021, the company made $596 million after tax.
 
The company's post tax earnings was affected by a $1.04 billion fall-off due to the permanent closure of the its subsidiaries, Haiti Broilers S.A., and T&S Rice S.A., on October 29.
 
The company's total earnings also improved, coming in at $22.9 billion.
 
Revenue last year at the corresponding reference point was $17.9 billion.
 
Total earnings for JB's Jamaican operations was $28.3 billion. 
 
The company has attributed the revenue growth primarily to increased production and sale of poultry, as well as increased sale of baby chicks to small farmers.
