Jamaica launches mystery flights and direct air link with Colombia

Jamaica has rolled out the red carpet for visitors from Colombia, ahead of the launch of direct flights between the two countries in December.

The Jamaica Tourist Board, working with Wingo Airlines, Corona and Hyatt Hotels, on Thursday welcomed two "mystery flights" carrying more than 370 passengers from Medellín and Bogotá to Sangster International Airport.

Tourism officials say the surprise arrivals were staged to give Colombians a taste of Jamaica's beaches, culture and famous hospitality.

Colombia is now one of Jamaica's fastest growing tourism markets with visitor arrivals up 32% last year and climbing another 25% in just the first half of this year.

Wingo's seasonal direct flights are set to begin on December 18, with tickets starting at $169 each way.

It will be available till January 26, 2026.
