Jamaicans spent more on health care and related services in the past year.
The Statistical Institute of Jamaica says point-to-point inflation for the 'Health' division was 4.4 per cent for the 12-month period ended June 2024.
For the month of June alone, STATIN says the 'Health' division increased by 0.6 per cent.
This was mainly due to a similar 0.6 per cent growth in the cost for 'Medicines and Health Products'.
STATIN says this was due to higher prices for some prescription drugs.
The group 'Outpatient Care Services' also rose by 1 per cent, as a result of increased fees for some general practitioners.
