The lower house has approved amendments to the income tax act, to provide incentives to Jamaicans who install renewable energy solutions at home.
Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke tabled the bill Tuesday in the House of Representatives. He says the bill seeks to implement an income tax credit to people who acquire and install solar photovoltaic systems at their primary place of residence.
Dr Clarke says proof of installation and functionality will have to be provided.
He says this should help the country get to the target of 50 per cent renewable energy use in power generation by 2030.
