NHT's new External Financing Mortgage Programme now in effect

The National Housing Trust's new External Financing Mortgage Programme is in effect.

The programme which commenced yesterday and forms part of a series of strategic changes being undertaken by the NHT, is set to replace the current Joint Finance Mortgage Programme on a phased basis.

The NHT says contributors will have an expanded list of mortgage institutions through which they can access their NHT loans.

This list will now include credit unions along with commercial banks. To date, National Commercial Bank and COK Sodality Cooperative Credit Union have signed on to the programme.

The NHT says with these changes, it will be able to rearrange its resources to focus more of its efforts on developing affordable housing solutions for contributors.
