Prominent Jamaican businessman Alexander Barclay Ewart died this morning at the Constant Spring Golf Course in St Andrew.
Mr. Ewart, who was 76, collapsed during his regular morning jog at the golf course.
Mr Ewart who was a Life Member, Jamaica Union of Scientists and Technicians was a pioneer in the heavy chemical industry in Jamaica. He took over the management of an ailing industrial chemical company which became one of Jamaica’s leading chemical manufacturing groups, receiving several export awards and distinctions.
Mr Ewart who also played a pivotal role in the manufacturing of upper leather and shoes in Jamaica, was Chairman and Managing Director for Leder Mode Limited and Tanners Limited.
He is survived by his wife Dierdre and 2 daughters.
