Robinson promises focus on physical infrastructure, human capital in future PNP government

Opposition Spokesman on finance Julian Robinson says, if he becomes the next Finance Minister, he will focus on rebuilding the country physical infrastructure and human capital.

Mr Robinson says this is in order to facilitate the production of high value-added goods and services for both the domestic and export markets.

He argues that the  former Finance Minister, Dr Nigel Clarke, focused on paying down the debt while paying little attention to building the country's physical infrastructure and human capital.

Debt service charges are programmed at J$501-billion this fiscal year, while the capital budget of the Ministry of Education was programmed at only J$2.9 billion.

The capital budget for central government stood at J$75 billion, or 2.5-per cent of GDP.
