Sygnus Credit Investments (SCI) is reporting record performance from its Puerto Rico operations and its first-ever dividend from that market, even as overall group earnings softened during the six months ended December 31.
The Group posted net profits of US$2.65 million for the six-month period.
Total investment income amounted to US$8.05 million, while net investment income was US$5.30 million.
Despite the lower bottom-line performance, SCI recorded a 14 per cent increase in net interest income to a record US$4.70 million, supported by accelerated portfolio deployment and continued expansion across its private credit platform.
The portfolio now spans 131 investments across 18 industries and eight territories, reflecting what the company described as a highly diversified and resilient balance sheet, even after the passage of Hurricane Melissa during the period.
A major highlight was the performance of its core Puerto Rico business, Acrecent Financial (AFL), which delivered record total investment income and net profits for both the quarter and the six-month period.
