The Bahamas: Unemployment drops to 8.7% in 2024, lowest since 2008

Bahamas' unemployment rate stood at 8.7 per cent for the first half of 2024, down 1.2 percentage points from the 9.9 per cent jobless figure recorded at the end of 2023.

The data were released by officials from the Bahamas National Statistical Institute yesterday.

The Ministry of Labour and Public Service noted that this marks the country's lowest recorded unemployment rate since 2008.

Figures showed that the overall unemployment rate in the Bahamas of 8.7 per cent remained the same during the first and second quarters of 2024.
