Wigton Energy, the renewable energy company, says through its growth by diversification strategy, it is seeking to become a more agile and competitive entity.
The company, which previously only operated wind turbines, is moving into solar generation of electricity, among other renewables.
Gary Barrow, CEO of the rebranded Wigton Energy, revealed on Friday that the company had been awarded a a preliminary permit for provision of 50 megawatts of solar energy, "and we anxiously await the final award."
Mr Barrow, who was speaking at the re-listing of the rebranded company at the Jamaica Stock Exchange, also disclosed that the company would be "repowering our Wigton assets to provide an additional 20.7 megawatts of renewable energy."
