Tthe government has allocated $172 million for mitigation work ahead of the start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season.
The hurricane season begins on June 1 and runs until November 30.
Works Minister Roert Morgan, told the House of Representatives on Tuesday that the government is being proactive, given the devastating effects of last year's Hurricane Beryl on the country's road infrastructure.
He said the amount allocated for drain cleaning has been doubled, adding that several areas have been earmarked for priority attention.
The minister said the government is targeting areas where the risks are highest.
