An inmate the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre is now under investigation after ammunition and other contraband were found in his cell at the maximum security prison.
Radio Jamaica News was informed that last Thursday officials at the prison carried out a search on a section of the facility after it was observed that two parcels were thrown over the perimeter wall by unknown persons.
During a search of one of the cells, one live 9mm round of ammunition, one makeshift jammer and a cellular phone were found.
The prisoner occupying the cell was then arrested.
The police say the inmate, who is now serving an eight-year sentence, will be charged.
