As the Yuletide season gets underway, the Area 4 section of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says it has strengthened security measures, with a particular focus on maintaining public order.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Michael Phipps, Commanding Officer for Area 4, has sought to assure the business community and shoppers that they can expect a safe and incident-free holiday season.

"We will be looking at and managing our traffic within the town centres. We will seek to maintain law and order at the highest order and, of course, we will seek to have an effective presence to prevent any acts of criminality. We will be executing planned operations in areas frequented by criminals and, of course, our main aim at this time of the Yuletide season is the security of the commercial district where we will seek to improve public confidence in the security forces," he asserted.

ACP Phipps warned that criminals who enter Area 4, which covers Kingston Central, Kingston West, Kingston East, St. Andrew South, and St. Andrew Central, will be challenged.

"Because the truth is we will be at them with all our available resources and our resources will be in the form of overt and, in some instances, covert. So we will be out of our numbers to ensure that shoppers, business operators and every single person who wishes to traverse Area 4 will do so in an atmosphere of peace without any hindrance whatsoever," he vowed.
