Briton accused of murdering J’can walks free

One of five men charged in connection with the daylight killing of 25-year-old Wayne Freckelton who is of Jamaican parentage, walked free from the Old Bailey Criminal Court in London as the judge ruled he had no case to answer.

Marcus Siyum, 19, of a North London address was cleared of murdering Mr. Freckleton who was shot in the head as he waited in a barber shop in front of customers in Harlesden on April 25, last year.

Mr. Siyum's defence team had put forward evidence to the judge that their client had no case to answer and the judge agreed.

Three other men, Femi Forde, Richard Osborne, and Antoine Richards have denied  that they are guilty of murder while a fourth accused, Jamal Smith has rejected the two counts of assisting an offender.

Earlier this week, Mr. Osborne told the court that he only heard about the murder when his mother told him and was surprised to be named among the accused.

Last week, the court heard that Mr. Forde had confessed that he and another man committed the crime.

The prosecution alleges that Mr. Freckleton's killing was in revenge for a double killing at the Tudor Rose Nightclub in South London in 2002.

Mr. Freckleton was wanted in connection with that murder.

The trial continues.
