Managing Director of Tankweld Group Bruce Bicknell has been slapped with an additional charge arising from an April 9 traffic violation.
The matter is scheduled to be mentioned on October 3 when Mr. Bicknell is to return for a plea and case management in the matter where he's charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Attorney Peter Champagnie who's representing Mr. Bicknell says the bribery charge has come has no surprise.
“That's in relation to the bribery matter. We are not surprised by that action at all and we look forward to representing him in court and we’re eager to have the matter resolved. We’re confident in relation to the defence.”
At today's mention, Mr. Champagnie was successful in applying for a variation of the stop order placed on his client to travel overseas.
In his application Mr. Champagnie outlined that Mr. Bicknell was requesting the Court's permission to travel overseas between September 14 and 18.
Details surrounding Mr. Bicknell's reason for travelling were contained in a letter which was presented to Resident Magistrate Georgianna Fraser.
After perusing the letter RM Fraser granted the request.
RM Fraser ordered Mr. Bicknell to have his travel documents returned to the court right after his return.
