CDB urges regional governments to invest in new tourism infrastructure away from the coastline

Vice President of the Caribbean Development Bank Therese Turner-Jones wants regional governments to invest in new tourism infrastructure away from the coastline.

Mrs Turner Jones says there needs to be a policy shift across the region in light of the persistent effects of climate change and rising sea levels.

She is encouraging each government to draft its own regulations, based on  unique needs and circumstances.

She acknowledged though that some governments are going to say that the allure of the sun and sea brings in much needed revenue.

She contends however that the revenue is at risk of being washed away with continuous coastline erosion.
