The Manchester police have charged a man for allegedly defrauding a woman through an overseas employment scam.
Martin Moxey, also called 'Demon', a mechanic and farmer of Toll Gate, Clarendon, is charged with obtaining money by means of false pretence.
The police say in August, Mr. Moxey, 32, was introduced to a woman through her brother.
Mr. Moxey falsely told the woman he was an employee of the Ministry of Labour and was responsible for the overseas work and travel programmes.
The woman reportedly showed interest in the job prospects and was allegedly instructed by Mr. Moxey to pay $130,000 at a commercial bank in May Pen.
She was also allegedly instructed to provide personal documents, which she did.
Upon completion, the woman was told that she would receive a call from the Ministry's head office with an interview date.
No call came and several attempts by the woman to contact Mr. Moxey proved futile.
A report was made to the police, and as part of the investigation, he was named a person of interest.
Mr. Moxey subsequently reported to the May Pen Police Station.
On Friday, September 26, an identification parade was conducted and he was positively identified.
He was later charged with the offence.
His court date has not yet been finalised.
