Police Commissioner Dr. Kevin Blake
Commissioner of Police Dr. Kevin Blake says he is pleased with the work of the police in St. Andrew South in contributing to a reduction in the country's murder rate.
Jamaica is on track to record below 700 murders this year.
Up to December 13, the country recorded 638 murders, compared to 1,118 during the similar period last year.
Dr. Blake says the strategy devised to address the crime situation in the St. Andrew South Division is bearing fruit.
"I am very happy with the result that I'm seeing and the turnaround that we're seeing now is remarkable. And I have to say thank you, not just to Mr. Manderson and the management team, but for you guys who support him, because as great as his strategies are, it means nothing at all if you don't understand it, where the rubber hits the road. Today we are poised to experience history. I want to say to you, take credit and be a part of that making of history. St. Andrew South and the effort that you have put inside this division help to bring us where we are. We have set a target and we have worked towards the target," he asserted.
Dr. Blake was speaking on Thursday during a tour of the St. Andrew South division.
