The St. Andrew South Police are seeking the help of the public to locate a detainee who escaped custody on Tuesday morning while being treated at hospital.
He is 29-year-old Garfield Dias, otherwise called 'Camphor Ball', of St. Paul Lane, Kingston 11.
Mr. Dias is charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
He is of dark complexion, medium build and has scars on the left side of his head and right arm.
The police say Mr. Dias made his escape about 4 a.m.
He is being asked to surrender to the police.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Garfield Dias is being asked to contact the Hunts Bay Police at 876-923-7111, the 119 police emergency number, or the nearest police station.
The police are also advising the public that harbouring a fugitive is a criminal offence.
