Corporate Area water restrictions remain despite recent rains

The National Water Commission (NWC) says, despite recent rains in the Corporate Area, storage levels at the Mona Reservoir and the Hermitage Dam remain low, and as such, supply restrictions will remain in place.

The NWC said the downpour had temporarily slowed the rate of decline at the storage facilities affected by the extended period of dry conditions.

However, Corporate Communications Director at the NWC Delano Williams says, despite these encouraging developments, storage levels remain significantly below those recorded during the corresponding periods in 2024 and 2025.

Nevertheless, she said the NWC was "heartened and encouraged by the rainfall, which has slowed the actual rate of decline in our storages."

He said as at October 12, Mona Reservoir's storage stood at 36.3 per cent, while Hermitage Dam was at 45.4 per cent.

Mr Williams acknowledged the public's desire for an easing of the existing supply restrictions, but stressed that the current storage position does not yet support a general return to unrestricted distribution.
