Shadow Health Minister Dr Morais Guy has questioned whether the Ministry of Health is conducting the necessary testing in order to inform the country on the actual number of positive COVID-19 cases.
Dr. Guy's query on Tuesday followed confirmation by Health Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton that the country is experiencing an increase in the positivity rate.
In response, Dr. Tufton said testing remains available but it is no longer mandatory as the government seeks to avoid creating "unnecessary panic".
"Covid has become a kind of routine; it's no longer a threat, as we're seeing with the data; everybody has it," he observed, characterising it as having become "close to being the common flu, as we anticipated."
