By Nakinskie Robinson

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness has described as disturbing, Monday night's gun attacks in which five men were killed and one wounded on Waltham Park Road in Kingston.

The Prime Minister made the comments as he toured the community, flanked by security personnel, as well as National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang and Commissioner of Police Dr. Kevin Blake.

Dr. Holness said there is a noticeable shift in the kinds of murders being committed, adding that there is a growing profile in "multiple victim violent incidents",  primarily being committed by gangs.

While he acknowledged that the police have not yet made such a determination in relation to Monday night's shooting, the Prime Minister said it is "highly likely that it is a gang related matter".

The JCF Constabulary Communications Network told Radio Jamaica News that the victims remain unidentified.

In the first shooting, gunmen opened fire on a man around 7:30 p.m.

Investigators are still working to establish a motive.

In the second indicent, five men were at a bar on Asia Avenue when a car drove up with men aboard who opened fire hitting them.

Sections of Waltham Park Road and Bay Farm Road were closed Monday night to facilitate the police probe.
