Economist says Jamaica stands to benefit from S&P rating upgrade

Economist Keenan Falconer

Economist Keenan Falconer says Jamaica stands to benefit from more international investments with the latest credit rating from Standards & Poor's.

The world's top credit rating agency S&P Global Ratings has raised its long-term foreign and local currency sovereign credit ratings on Jamaica to BB from BB-.

Mr Falconer, speaking Friday on Radio Jamaica's Beyond the Headlines, said this puts Jamaica in a favourable position on the international scene as it signals that the country is able to repay its debt.
