Final report on AA crash to be ready soon

A team from the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) left the island last Friday and is now preparing to wrap up the probe into the December 2009 crash of an American Airlines plane.

It was part of a joint team involving local investigators looking into the cause of the crash which left scores of passengers injured.

Lieutenant Colonel Oscar Derby, director general of the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority, told RJR News that the team reviewed all the work done so far and a final report is just weeks away.

Flight 331 was en route from Miami to Kingston in stormy weather on December 22, 2009 when it overshot the runway and landed on a beach near the Palisadoes Road.

The plane broke in two on impact.
