A three-vehicle collision on the Park main road in St. Elizabeth early Tuesday morning, left one firefighter hospitalised and another person nursing injuries.

The crash happened around 2 a.m.

A tractor trailer loaded with animal feed was travelling westward from Santa Cruz, while a grey Toyota Yaris and a white Toyota van were heading in the opposite direction.

Reports say the Yaris swerved to avoid a pothole, struck the truck tires, and crashed into a ditch, causing the truck to overturn and collide with the van.

The van, which was being driven by the firefighter, then crashed into a culvert.

The driver of the Yaris was rescued by firefighters and taken to hospital by a unit from the Santa Cruz Fire Station.
