A former JetBlue Airways flight attendant and one time Miss Jamaica contestant, who tried to smuggle nearly 60 pounds of cocaine then fled when pulled aside for a baggage search at Los Angeles International Airport, pleaded guilty yesterday to a federal charge.
Marsha Gay Reynolds, 32, entered her plea to a single count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine. She's scheduled to be sentenced March 13 on the felony charge, which is punishable by a 10-year mandatory minimum prison term.
Reynolds was initially charged with possession with intent to distribute, but the allegations against her expanded to conspiracy involving an unindicted co-conspirator.
Reynolds, of Queens, New York, sprinted down an up escalator and out of Los Angeles International, leaving behind her luggage, after she was randomly selected for secondary screening on March 18.
The following day, she flew to New York and where she surrendered to U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents several days later.
Her lawyer said she was also a nursing student, but withdrew from school before her arrest.
