Future Leaders conference launched

Members of one the largest groups in the Jamaican Diaspora have outlined plans to foster greater collaboration with their homeland.

The Jamaican Diaspora Canada Foundation on Friday launched its Future Leaders Conference.

The conference is being staged as a precursor to the Third Biennial Jamaican Diaspora Conference to be staged at the Jamaica Conference Centre in Kingston, on Monday and Tuesday.

The Future Leadership Committee has been involved in several outreach programmes in Jamaica.

At the press launch on Friday, Director of the Future Leadership Committee Leo Campbell elaborated that many Jamaicans in Canada want to contribute to the development of the island.

He said one aim of the conference is to find out how young Jamaicans in Canada can contribute to the nation's growth.

"We want to hear from the young people. We want to come and take the posture of how can we assist ... what is it you need from us as future leaders even though we're not residing here we still have the opportunity to connect.

We're not coming here with all the solutions, but let us work together and find the solution," said Mr. Campbell.
