Prince Moore reports
A government forensic analyst on Thursday confirmed that the blood found in Noel Maitland's apartment eight days after his girlfriend was reported missing, was human.
The analyst, who has been on the stand since Tuesday, gave the confirmation during examination-in-chief marshalled by acting Director of Public Prosecutions Claudette Thompson.
Constable Maitland is on trial for murder and preventing the lawful burial of a corpse in relation to his girlfriend Donna-Lee Donaldson, who went missing in July 2022.
On Wednesday, the analyst told the court that a bloodstained entranced mat and two blooded left foot shoes - one a Crocs slipper and the other a Puma sneaker - were discovered on July 21, 2022.
Blood was also seen on a curtain in the living and dining area that same day.
The curtain was examined in court and tended as an exhibit on Thursday.
A cream-coloured throw pillow was also examined and tended as an exhibit.
Prior to Thursday's adjournment, the analyst said she returned to the apartment complex on July 27, 2022, but aborted her visit after waiting unsuccessfully for Mr. Maitland for two hours.
She said the following day her team and members of Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) made arrangement with the Jamaica Constabulary Force to accommodate both teams. Mr. Maitland was present.
Ms. Donaldson, the 24-year-old social media personality and customer service representative who was reported missing three years ago on July 13, had left her home on July 11 with Mr. Maitland. She last spoke with relatives on July 12 while at his apartment.
The trial continues on Monday.
