INDECOM probing police fatal shooting on Princess Street

 
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing the police fatal shooting of an unidentified man on Princess Street in Kingston on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The man was shot during an alleged confrontation with officers attached to the Kingston Western Police Division. 
 
The shooting occurred about 4:30 p.m. at a property in the vicinity of Charles Street. 
 
A firearm seized. 
 
It is reported that police personnel from the Kingston Western Division were on mobile patrol when they saw the man walking along the roadway with a bulge to his waist. 
 
The man ran onto a property and was pursued by the police. He reportedly opened gunfire at them, which was returned, resulting in him being wounded. 
 
He was pronounced dead at hospital.
 
At least 133 fatal police shootings have been recorded since the start of the year, compared to 131 over the corresponding period last year. 
 
Seventeen fatal shootings have been recorded so far this month.
